Cantina Calatrasi, a wine cellar situated in San Cipirello, some 30 km from Palermo.
The structure has a total capacity of nearly 5,000,000 litres and is fitted to produce up to 2 million wine casks each year, without any further investment. Calatrasi holds as much as 231 hectares of vineyards in Sicily, at Mazara, Ferla Estate, Compofiorito, near Corleone, and at Ginestra on the green hills of Monreale DOC. In all three estates relatively young vineyards have been planted (1998). The vineyards are cultivated with eco-sustainable procedures, thus guaranteeing a strong identity at various altitudes and sites. The altitude varies: from sea level at Mazara del Vallo, to about 1,000 mt. at Corleone. The soils vary from clay and marly to red earth.
