Made from 95% Nero d'Avola and 5% Perricone. After fermentation, the wine was aged in 50% new French oak barrels for 1 year. The bouquet reveals scents of cherry, walnut husk, wild berries, vanilla, cinnamon, mint, sage and tobacco that carry through to the concentrated flavors on the palate.
Terra Nere is located on the northern slopes of the Etna volcano, and the very particular soil and climate conditions together with high altitude make these wines akin to Burgundy or Barolo. Baglio di Serramarrocco opens with a slightly browning hue and savory aromas of cured beef and black currant. There’s an earthy tone as well, backed by mild grittiness in the mouth.
